Easter Chapel
Wednesday, April 5
There is nothing more important for us to celebrate than Christ's death and resurrection! The Easter chapel will feature our drama club with their final performance for the year, as well as Scripture from our 2nd graders, and 5th grade poetry. Of course we will sing some of the wonderful songs of Easter.

Element (discipleship throughline) we're focusing on this month: Earth Keeper
Truth: I can respect and care for all parts of God’s world.
Psalm 24:1: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”"
This month we welcome Mr. Kelly Crull to our Storyline chapel. Kelly grew up in Sioux Center and is an SCCS alum. He is also the author, illustrator, and photographer of a short stack of books, including his non-fiction picture book debut, Washed Ashore: Making Art from Ocean Plastic. Kelly creates books that take on some of the most challenging aspects of creation care with a playful spirit, a sense of humor, and a pastor's heart. Kelly grew up in Sioux Center, IA and graduated from Dordt University. After working as a pastor and church planter in Spain for the last twenty years, he now lives with his wife and three children in Des Moines, IA.
Our song for the month is "All Creatures of Our God and King".

This month we welcome Dr. Justin Bailey from Dordt University. Dr. Bailey will explore along with us what it means to be a Beauty Maker.

Element (discipleship throughline) we're focusing on this month: Servant Worker
Truth: I can bring joy and healing to others through service.
1 John 3:16: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
This month we welcome Mr. Joel Penner from Dordt University. Mr. Penner will be bringing along several Dordt football team members, and doing a Q and A session, along with some reflection on what it means to be a servant worker.
Our song for the month is "Your Labor is Not in Vain."

In December we are reviewing and reflecting on the Throughlines from September through November (God Worshiper, Community Builder, Order Discoverer) and also focus on the Good News of Christ's birth!

Element (discipleship throughline) we're focusing on this month: Order Discoverer
Truth: I can see and rejoice in God's fingerprints throughout all of creation.
Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
This month we welcome Dr. Val Zonnefeld from Dordt University. Dr. Zonnefeld will explore along with us what it means to be an Order Discoverer. The Drama MInistries Club will be performing Bible verses from Genesis 1 and the book of Job. Our song for the month is "Indescribable"

Element (discipleship throughline) we're focusing on this month: Community Builder
Truth: I can understand and build community.
1 Corinthians 12:12: “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”
We welcome Pastor Joel Kok from Covenant CRC who will explore along with us what it means to be a Community Builder. The SCCS Drama Ministry Club will be performing the Bible text from Genesis 18. The focus will be Genesis 18:18 where God declares that Abraham has been called and blessed, so that through him all the nations of the world will be blessed. Our song for the month is "Build Your Kingdom Here."

Element (discipleship throughline) we're focusing on this month: God Worshiper
Truth: I can worship God in all parts of my life.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9: "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children..."
We welcome Pastor Bob Pollema from Faith CRC to help us dig into what it means to be a God Worshiper. We also welcome the members of the SCCS Drama Ministry Club who will be presenting the Scripture. Our song for the month is "O Worship the King."
