Sioux Center Christian School has a rich history of serving the Lord.  Established in 1905, the school has educated students from a Reformed perspective for over 100 years and continues to do so today. 
 
A dedicated faculty, staff, and board enjoy working with His covenant children, fulfilling the mission to disciple God's children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.

Faculty and Administrative Positions Currently Available

BAND/CHOIR TEACHER
FULL-TIME 5TH-8TH GRADE BAND/CHOIR TEACHER POSITION OPENING:  Sioux Center Christian School invites you to consider the opportunity to work with a dedicated faculty and staff, passionate parents, and fantastic students through the position of 5th-8th grade band/choir teacher.  Sioux Center Christian School has a rich history of serving the Lord.  

The ideal candidate loves God, loves kids, loves learning, and has a servant heart and passion for Reformed Christian education.  You will partner with 2 other members of the music department and be responsible for fulfilling the following:

  • Teach 5-8 band class
  • Teach band lessons
  • Teach 5-8 music and choir course
  • Partner with other music teachers to create performance opportunities for students
  • Instill in students a love of music, creating music, and learning about music
  • Help students understand and celebrate their talents and gifts
  • Implement the school’s music curriculum
  • Provide opportunities for students to do real work for real people with real needs using the Teaching for Transformation framework

You will be joining a team filled with people who love to collaborate, love to fulfill the school’s mission statement, love to work with students, and love to keep growing.  Applicants should be endorsed to teach music in Iowa (or have the ability to gain such an endorsement) and should be familiar with the Teaching for Transformation and Response to Intervention frameworks or the willingness to learn.

Staff Positions Currently Available

HEAD CUSTODIAN
We are seeking to add a Full-Time Head Custodian to our team to oversee the summer crew, provide custodial support, and care for the upcoming Blazer Center addition.

The ideal candidate for each position will be someone who:

  • Has a heart for God and His kids
  • Has a mechanical aptitude 
  • Has the ability to creatively solve problems
  • Is able to collaborate with other support staff, teachers, and other members of the SCCS community
  • Demonstrates an attention to detail
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead a summer custodial crew
  • Has a servant heart and a passion for Reformed Christian education and faith nurturing
     

PARAPROFESSIONAL
We are seeking support staff members to join our team as we work to meet the needs of our students:

  • Paraprofessional (full-time one-to-one support with a 2nd grade student)
  • Paraprofessional (IEP is still being determined)

The ideal candidate for each position will be someone who:

  • Has a heart for God and His kids
  • Is uniquely gifted by God to support students who learn differently
  • Has the ability to creatively meet student needs using a variety of strategies and materials
  • Is able to collaborate with other support staff, teachers, and members of the inclusive education team
  • Feels comfortable reporting progress and information to teachers and inclusive education team members
  • Is willing to work hard and fulfill various tasks in relation to meeting student needs
  • Has an understanding of the Response to Intervention model, or the willingness to learn
  • Has a servant heart and a passion for Reformed Christian education and faith nurturing

Ideal applicants include those with a background in education, psychology, and/or social work or other related fields, but that is not a requirement. A love for God's kids and a willingness to learn is taken under consideration when we hire, plus training for the position is given.
 

KITCHEN
Cook (Part-Time):  Looking for someone to join our kitchen crew from 10:30am – 1:30 Monday through Friday to help with serving lunch, clean up and minimal food prep.  This position could be split between multiple people if necessary.
 
 
BUS DRIVERS (any combination of route or activity bus driving):  The school will pay for all expenses related to securing a license and/or training costs. 

 

Substitute Teachers needed

We are always in need of more quality substitute teachers/paras.  Looking for individuals who enjoy working with children, can follow instructions provided, and can be flexible with responsibilities. 
 
Responsibilities depend on the needs, but could range from Kindergarten all the way to 8th grade, full or partial days, and could be classroom teacher or paraprofessional. 
Times, dates, and assignments are all depending on your preference – we will work with your schedule and level of comfort.
Teaching degree not required.
