This year, SCCS and Interstates are partnering in a "Foundations of Leadership" program for all of our 8th grade students.
Inspired by Interstates "Excellence in Leadership" program and adapted for our 8th graders and our Teaching for Transformation framework, this year-long program lays a foundation for a lifetime of servant leadership. Our 8th graders will engage with Christian leaders as they discover how God has uniquely wired them to reflect His character and serve His Kingdom.
Through lessons, discussions, reflection, and interactive challenges, students will practice giving and receiving feedback, strengthen decision-making skills, build ownership, accountability, and responsibility, and grow in communicating with grace and understanding.
Their kick-off last week Monday included a challenge to set up a tent as a team - while all were blindfolded except one! After the challenge, students took time to discuss questions that were designed to help them apply what they learned about themselves and others to situations they face now, in their last year at SCCS, and as they prepare for high school.
We are very excited for this year of growing as Christ-centered servant leaders! Thank you to the Interstates team of Andrew, Kirsten, Erica, and Lori for leading this first session and for their part in creating this program!!
